About deni

For me, it’s all about encouragement.

We are called to encourage one another - and while I may not be able to do that in the “real” world, I can try to encourage you through the virtual world that often becomes home for those of us who face multiple challenges.

My top posts:

About me

A psychologist by profession, disability forced me into an early retirement from a field I love.  My second love?  Writing.  Combing my disability and my love of writing, seemed to be the natural outcome.

I have come to believe that the only true way to deal with physical and emotional pain is to bring them to the feet of my Lord and Savior.  My hope is that by sharing the insights I have gleaned while many physical challenges (Celiac Sprue, Atrial Fibrillation, Ankylosing Spondylitis and Porphyria to name a few) as well as dealing with the emotional challenge of  the death of my adult daughter and subsequently raising her two children has taught me many things about myself and my walk in this world as a Christian.

In the past few years, my husband has faced multiple myeloma, a stem cell transplant, heart valve replacement surgery and an aortic aneurism.  Yet, God has held us close during each and every event.

So - why write devotionals?

I first started as a reader of devotionals on the Rest Ministry site, and soon realized that what my written prayers contained were words that could be shared with others.

It is my fondest prayer that some of the lessons I face might be helpful to you as you walk this path, encouraging you to  replace feelings of discouragement, hopelessness and helplessness with those of encouragement, hope, and ultimately, joy

I am actively involved as an administrator in the Peace in Chronic Illness Chatroom and also participate in the Whole Life Living website.  I am blessed to be on the Rest Ministries writing staff and I am frequent contributor to their daily devotional site.

Encouraging Words is made on a Mac with iWeb.  The theme is a customized version of Cloud 9.  The body text is Times New Roman.  The devotional titles are Helvetica neuve.  I get most of my photos from DreamsTime.com.  Please grab pictures from their site rather than downloading from this site.   Most of the images I use are free stock images. Their royalty free images are reasonably priced
