Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. NIV
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? Psalm 121:1
There are lyrics to an Andre Crouch song that scroll across the home page of this blog. The song is “Through It All.”
As I struggle with my current health challenges, I find I need encouragement and support. I know the only true place to get that encouragement and support is from my God. While it is truly wonderful that I have folks who provide those things for me, I can’t always count on them being there right when I need them. But my “help” is only a prayer away. I close my eyes and whisper His name and know I am not alone.
So many things go wrong in life. In his book, “The Road Less Traveled”, Scott Peck begins with the words “Life is difficult” and the sooner we realize that truth, the better off we are. Somehow, somewhere, I was sold a bill of goods that life was supposed to be easy and if there were troublesome times it was somehow unfair – and simply not supposed to be.
Now maybe life is “easy” for someone out there – somewhere – but I have yet to meet them. We all struggle in different ways. My struggle just happens to involve my body. For other folks it is money, relationships, addictions, you name it. We all struggle. We all, at one time or another, need someone or something to get us “through it all.” People turn to many different things to make that come true. They turn to other relationships, to alcohol, drugs, their work, or living in a fantasy world to escape “now.”
The problem with those solutions is that they are temporary. They may work for a while, but end up just adding another struggle to the one they are already trying to avoid. I truly believe that the only true way to deal with chronic pain and chronic illness is to bring them to the feet of her Lord and Savior.”
That is the only thing that gets me “through it all.” I pray, dear reader, that if you do not have a relationship with Christ that allows you to bring each and every problem to His feet, that you begin to seek Him out today. You will see Him everywhere: in the beauty of autumn, in the first smile of a baby, in a beam of sunlight streaming through the clouds. Seek Him with all your heart and He will not disappoint you! He is with you, “Through it all.”
“Through it all, through it all
I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God.
Through it all, through it all
I’ve learned to depend upon His word.”
Father God, I praise and thank You that You are only a prayer away for each of us, and that You have promised to be there, through it all. Amen and Amen. So be it, Lord.
(Encouraging Words will not yet be posted on a daily basis, but as they can be written. Thank you for your prayers and support!)
